I've got soul but I'm not a soldier.
![]() See that Starbucks drink? Hznmc is the best kay (beside Mango Passionfruit, 'cause this has coffee in it) It has been a long week, and it's finally Saturday. My major project for IDS is coming to an end - only left with a final presentation next Monday. I think I did a wonderful job, seeing how I only had 3 days left to research, sketch, draft and build my model 'cause I was being a lazybum the week before, unsure of whether I should quit or not. Thank God for bringing me through this shithole :') alive. So, I went on until Friday with only short naps (I guess my fellow designer-wannabe friends too.) and boy, I really felt a burden drop off my shoulder. :D My model isn't the best but it's gotten better from the first one. Hahaha. I didn't go home immediately after submission (which was at 8 in the bloody morning) 'cause I still had work to do :( So glad I wasn't the only one who had to do my 3DSmax :D Jamie also planned to stay, so we did our work together (and Zhang Yu just sat with us to read a horror story in broad daylight.) Later, I relieved Pretty boy of his burden of painting his clay model. Bleargh, if he'd told me he needed it before the end of the day, I wouldn't have spent 2 hours just touching up on the yellow parts. But still! Together with Jamie, we completed it :) ![]() The chibi drawing of Pretty boy's clay model (can't believe even the creator forgot the name he'd given his sculpture) by Jamie is SO cute. She, like, did it on the spot, with SAI and PS. Left for home after and was walking ULTRA slow, I actually found it funny and nearly laughed to myself while walking. I felt just like I was floating (my legs were like disconnected from my body, so darn tired) the entire day already. Also fell asleep while standing on the train - it was like, my stop by the time I was slightly more awake again. What a joke :( Reached home and died on the couch, woke only at 9 when I had a movie at 9.10 :( Retarded. So I rushed down to CWP to catch Narnia (cause Cedric already booked it and complained it was $14 for the tickets. Why did they have to increase the price of 3D movies!) I absolutely love The Chronicles of Narnia kay! I've read it when I was 7 and I've the series in phyiscal form, and they're a decade old now. So proud of myself, hahaha. The pages are really yellow (guess the paper used wasn't acid-free) so it really smells of old books... I guess it's safe to say this is the oldest set of books I have. I've to thank my mom for getting these books :) Can't remember why she got them, but I remember she said it was from Australia. Hmm, cool. Oh yes, I finally got to eat my McSpicy after missing the chance to get it since Tuesday :( Got scolded by my friends 'cause I haven't been eating well again~ :') So nice of them, hahaha. Okay, I'm off to do my other work now. It's not the time for celebration/relaxation now. If you're wondering, here's my IDS proj :) It's done on a 1:100 scale. Everything is to scale so... it's buildable in reality. Click on them if you can't see :D ![]() The entire Rubix Plaza, made up of 27 10x10x10 cubes. :) ![]() First model. It's very amateur. (We were told to design the space for a gallery, studio, basic utilities and a resting space from what we've learnt so far.) And I was inspired by this picture I saw in tumblr, which is from someone's Flickr. They didn't say who the designer/architect/where this is from either :( ![]() ![]() Second model. It's much better, but could be better. (We designed the space according to a few geometric artworks, combined with what we've been taught up to here.) ![]() Third model. I think I did much better, but calculated wrongly ;( (About the same as the first model. The elements are very disconnected, unlike what we did in our second model.) ![]() Fourth and final model. Whee it actually looks way better, using Mies van der Rohe's concept. (We were to research on a certain architect and design the space in the architect's concept... Of which, 'Less is more' and 'God is in the details', along with Mies's other concepts (go read it yourself) was implemented into this model.) ![]() ![]() I'm most proud of the first floor. The space is very interesting to me, somehow. It made me want to view the space from all angles :') ![]() Second floor. ![]() Third floor. Since understanding how one's mind works would take more than 3 days, I picked out some ideas from his works and tried to compose my design in his manner. The Barcelona Pavilion, Tugendhat House, Farnsworth House and Brick Country House Project (under the "Five Projects") were the basis for my design. And... that's basically what occupied me this term. There're other works too, just not as time and energy and money consuming like this. I shan't bore you with other boring details. Hope this lengthy post makes up for the lack of my presence the past few... days. Or something. Oh, I never look at buildings the same way ever again. Both the interior and exterior. FML :) Ohoh, the blonde in my hair is out :D It's not as blonde-ish 'cause it's platinum blonde. May want to bleach more after I finish my December job! Ohohoh, I've a new found admiration/appreciation for staircases. They were real pain in the asses in this entire project 'cause it's really not easy to decide where they start, end, where they should be... etc. As long as the stairway isn't a straight one, their level of difficulty (in all aspects) increases. Omg, I sound like I'm very into and enthusiastic about this all, right? I'm actually not. :( Labels: ▼ |
