Staying up

studies say the best hours to sleep are between 11 and 3
studies say bad sleeping habits can be detrimental in the long term

i stay up anyway,
though i don’t have any work
or anything at all
because the hours
between night and morning are
the times i feel most okay
those are the hours i
genuinely feel at ease,
because the world has stopped… and
i almost believe im okay

studies say so many things
but what’s my physical health good for if my mental health is nothing?

“have you ever looked
at a healing wound
and thought,
this will scar.
?
that’s how i feel
when i look at you.”

— the worst part of happy is the end, Drea O.

do you ache to hear those words again
like the fruit you know you should not consume of
and when you do
it can feel like a surgery you haven’t been anaesthetised for
do you ache to hear those words again?

“People are afraid of themselves, of their own reality; their feelings most of all. People talk about how great love is, but that’s bullshit. Love hurts. Feelings are disturbing. People are taught that pain is evil and dangerous. How can they deal with love if they’re afraid to feel? Pain is meant to wake us up. People try to hide their pain. But they’re wrong. Pain is something to carry, like a radio. You feel your strength in the experience of pain. It’s all in how you carry it. That’s what matters. Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you. Your own reality. If you feel ashamed of them, and hide them, you’re letting society destroy your reality. You should stand up for your right to feel your pain.”

The hardest part is forgetting those you swore you would never forget

Last Tuesday (07/04) @ Being As An Ocean live in SG for their Asian Tour 2015.

When Bruce approached me to make another poster, I didn't think the final outcome would be so... pretty. HAHA prior to this, I'd only seen BAAO around but not heard of their stuff. Anyway these guys are the nicest and most down to earth band people I've met so far! Also they are fucking sick, fucking tight live so okay yes +1 fan hahahahaha

Exhibitors and A Town In Fear opened for BAAO and the crowd was insane the whole night. Okay, insane and then beyond insane. CRAZY STUFF. I couldn't even get to the front of the stage...... Photos are in progression of how intense the night went. It got so intense the crowd broke Michael's pedal and there was like 10 minutes of panic. Tyler spent most of his time protecting his pedals too, because the plug wasn't exactly tight. I just hope they'll come back again haha because they are so good. The venue was small but it was intimate and filled to the brim so it's good.

AND LOL people were buying the poster I made and getting the band's signatures on em. HEHEHE (of course I got it too duh)

Thankful for Wicked Productions for bringing BAAO in and making this work out. Looking forward to the next band they bring in hehe.

Quantum Flux

you asked if i might
be psychotic, and i said yes
i said yes because
we all are, in a way
except i destroy myself,
instead of the world around me

i would never ever be
able to bring myself to
hurt you

Flamingo

Sometimes I try to convince myself that if I write a sentence about happiness and peace of mind, maybe as soon as I finish hitting the period key at the end, it will come true. Maybe it does, you know… maybe it does. I just confuse reality with fiction sometimes. But maybe it comes true in someone else’s life and not mine. Maybe sometimes I am writing about you and not me. And I always have wished for your happiness, because you deserve it, but I guess I always wished throughout that your happiness would be complete with me, and not with someone else. I don’t think you read this, I don’t know, maybe you do, but I think if just happens like this regardless of whether you know of it.

Can't Stop

Accompanied Chyn down to Julian's for her school assignment. HAHA oh man I half miss school. It was half embarrassing through the 6 hours because there really isn't anything super boomz about tattooing - I was rolling my eyes so much in my head the entire time... But there were some nice shots so it probably is okay.

Chyn asked some questions but I can't remember everything. So far he's been inking for 6-8 years (HAHA I can't remember my memory is failing me so bad). If only I could draw well, I would've taken up that apprenticeship at the other studio HAHA it's okay I'll figure out something else to do.

Also!! This is the first time I'm shooting with my a7 (because Chyn was using my D90) and I'm pretty impressed with the quality. Not to mention its full frame deliciousness. Heh okay enjoy!

Oh yes and thank you to Jeslyn for allowing us to shoot your tattoo process. HAHAHA I would've been cool with it too if someone were to be shooting for an assignment and I was getting inked.

Julian + Jerome who tolerated our nonsense the whole day haha

Not trying to sound off but the way Julian does the colouring looks so gentle, it looks like it doesn't hurt at all (which is a lie). HAHAHA and it's not like I was watching intensely either, I was waiting for my shot!! I would so love to have a piece done by him, I shall go figure out what.

Anyway, do check out his works on Facebook or Instagram! Sibei chio. And the guy prepping the owl for colour is over here!

Yay I'm gonna play more with my a7 HAHA hope my D90 doesn't get neglected. It will, for real, when I get the Nikon mount for my a7. :(

Peanut Butter

It's only been 26 days into the new year and so many things have happened already. Anything goes within minutes, don't even bother with days or weeks or months. I've consumed even more alcohol in the past month than I have back when I was working at that shit hole. I've sent even more parcels overseas in the past month than I do locally. I've done too many crazy things that I usually wouldn't have, given the person I am. Maybe there's still a lot to figure out about myself, or maybe I just don't know myself at all.

Cheryl came back for a week in December. I managed to meet her one day before she left for the States and words can't express how much I've missed her. The next time I'll see her is in 2017 so... hopefully by then I'll be able to tell her cooler stories of what I've made. Times like these, I'm more than thankful for the existence of Skype and Whatsapp LOL

Also I finally got to meet my bubs after months. Probably had a little too much fun that night... but who's to say anything's too much?

Cr: Ashri

Took my new camera out for a spin with Ashri recently too at some gigs! It's pretty darn awesome but my Nikon will always be my baby. Hehe Nikon forever!! Also it's been ages since I've been to any art shows/exhibitions -- I think I need to add more slots into my calendar. 24 hours a day just isn't enough man. No I need a personal assistant.

I've also pissed someone off to the point of no return. I meant every single word (though I might've went a bit far) unlike the others I'd threw away so... I don't know. Shit comes in many different forms though the most familiar of all is the matter that comes out of our assholes. Hahahahahaahhahaha shit also comes in the form of things and people and emotions so hello January you have been rather interesting to me lately.

Right, I had a haircut too.

from you came the greatest heartaches ive even gone through,
came the greatest lessons ill ever learn for life,
came the greatest pieces of art ive ever created

from you leaves the stronger person from your embrace,
leaves the braver person from your words,
leaves the wiser person from your existence

angels and lessons
you have taught me everything (without a poisoned apple)
i never thought i’d need to know
you rekindled the flame i’d snuffed out just to get by
with the gentlest of gestures, i will never forget
you probably didn’t know why you were doing,
and i don’t expect you to remember,
for you were the angel with a lesson -
only to be forgotten once it’s all over

angels and lessons
you were the most beautiful of them all

(Why did you approach me, why did you say hello?
Because you looked lonely, and I didn’t want you to be alone.)

It's just that I've crossed out more than what I've wrote down for you

Someone asked me what home was and all I could think of were the stars on the tip of your tongue, the flowers sprouting from your mouth, the roots entwined in the gaps between your fingers, the ocean echoing inside your ribcage. (E. E. Cummings)
October was the month of recuperation and November is the month of anguish. December will be here soon and it probably will be the month of darkness.

There is so much to do and so little time, yet time passes by too slow - I cannot breathe. I'd always anticipated the days like today (like yesterday, tomorrow), and I've come prepared, but when it happens, it hits. It hits like a wall of water, it's a tsunami, and in an instant, you're robbed of air, of sanity, of space all at once. You always think I'll take it slow, I'll keep my eyes wide open, I'll be cautious but it's never enough, right? It's funny how life always has something new to show us, and if you're not careful, you might just fuck everything up.

(You're not brave if you still keep the letters and you're not sane if you don't want to get better and you're not drunk if you can still stay in your lane. Well, you're not awake but you haven't been sleeping and you hate god but you don't believe in him. You're scared but you've still got your eyes closed.)
I had the worst, most vivid, bloody nightmare last night. It was sick, and it made me sick. The funny thing is, I haven't watched any violent action film or TV series or cartoon whatsoever in the past 2 months. Maybe having junk food for dinner is really unhealthy.

It's not like my eating habits are any better than choosing not to eat junk food anyway...

I noticed that
as the years went by,
I took lesser and lesser pictures
there were lesser and lesser subjects.

Someone once said,
If you want to know
what someone's afraid to lose,
watch what they photograph.

And then I realised,
there were lesser and lesser things to lose
lesser and lesser (people) to love.
The beginning is always the hardest, I know. But it feels like I'm getting nowhere, I'm stuck at the start. It's not such a bad thing though, sometimes, at least I'm making something new. We all will eventually get to where we need to be. You see, the question is when... not where, not how, not why.

The question is always when.

(Pick my heart off the floor)

July and August saw me attending all the gigs I could and (attempting to) do what I've missed out the past 3 years. The convocation ceremony is this coming Saturday and I'm not prepared. I'm still a child... but with more responsibilities (and less of a life) now haha. I haven't done anything productive these two months (artistically publicly) but I'm slowly making my way there. My design philosophy has taken a 360 degree turn right in the middle of FYP2 and it apparently set something in stone. It was gonna happen someday, I just didn't expect to free fall into nothingness so soon while I had no hands (or as I'd thought) to juggle. I still don't know where to start but I'm getting somewhere, albeit too slow.

July was a month of provision, and August was an angel in many aspects. I have so much to be thankful for, and it's great to be busy again. I can't wait for better days to come.

ANYWAY, DAMN PROUD OF STOPGAP AND MANNEQUINS. Watched them from their first few shows and seeing them come this far, :') (OH AND TQ STOPGAP FOR 505) ((Omg ignore my stupid thumbs up pose everywhere HAHA I need to stop doing that...))

Also, the best way to end any month. I'm as proud to see a local band sell out a show to a local audience supported by local acts and artists! Congratulations to Gentle Bones, fly far!

Little one, your eyes so bright
Shining, twinkling with the light of the world
You’re trying to take in all you can
But don’t forget where you come from
Don’t forget to appreciate what is already around you

Little one, your eyes so bright
Shining, sparkling in awe of the world
There are not enough hours in the day for you
But don’t forget who you are
Don’t forget what you are
Never forget who you are

Don’t lose yourself to what the world has to offer -
There’s so much of the world but
There’s only one of you
And you are too precious for anything in the world
To take away
