We are all pawns, we are all sheep, we are all born dead.
![]() I had a pretty fabulous 9th of August :) which also happens to be Singapore's 46th birthday! #happybirthdaySingapore Exactly this day a year ago was really different from today, and something I'd never think possible back then. Last year I spent today watching the parade and fireworks from our area together with Angela and her younger brother. :) Last year, I was also still in SP and had the YOG to work our homework through, B) Last year was pretty lonesome... Today started off on a pretty bad note - family being totally screwed up and spoiling my mood for the rest of the afternoon. I retreated to my room and blasted music, and just as I was about to head to sleep, Acip (yeah, him again! So awesome!) asked if I was skating today. Yay so we all met to skate and chill and honestly I was really happy, excited probably, since I really missed them! We don't meet often so I really cherish (so cheesy) whenever we meet to skate (though I do more of photographing them than skate 'cause I suck). They're really nice people, I really like them :) ![]() ![]() Like every other sport, you're bound to get injured one way or another. Poor Acip hurt his leg and Yan hurt his back. And I just sat down drawing caricatures of them. Ha ha ha ![]() Hi guys, you really made my day. See everyone soon!! :)

I feel like a hero and you're my heroin(e).
![]() Taken by: Alex | Edits by: Me I've only started working recently because the outlet I was posted to didn't receive the info that I was posted there. Sheesh... How am I supposed to show that I don't just want to work during GSS? They're just gonna let me go after my contract ends. Oh well... The only thing interesting that happened at work today was a customer who entered the shop to listen to music. She stayed and even requested for the few songs she knew. Hahaha cutesy. Also, I haven't been eating well lately. I honestly feel like I'm dying soon, and it's not a good thing. Anyway, I think I had a great weekend despite some really huge shit - hung out w K and friends. I crashed into Saturday right after I knocked off, spending the night out intending to fish/skate but it rained. So we ended up watching Harry Potter in the dead of the night. We bumped into the rest outside the mall 'cause they were just chilling. Rain isn't good for skaters. ![]() Later that day, we went for a gig. Intended/planned to. Right on that day, there was another gig and I didn't know which to go. I shouldn't have went for any at all 'cause I had dinner w Tai and the rest. In the end I ditched everything 'cause some huge shit landed on me and I was temporarily stunned. I've to thank Ian, for listening to me rant while you have your own problem to solve and it's more than enough even if you have nothing to say to me, and Mr. ODH, for rooting for me and taking care of Ian! :) As I was heading home, K called and asked me to meet him where the other gig was. When I reached, he was still lost far, far away, so we decided to meet at *Scape. Deciding that he'd take a long time, I decided to skate from Home Club down. It was a nice cruise albeit the annoying crowd (since there was the National Day preview thing going on at the same time), and I'd learned how to pick up my deck in another way :) So I had fun. Just before I reached DBG, I called K up and turns out he wasn't too far from me, so I asked him to wait for me. As I was making my way there, I was stopped by the usual group of us skaters at our usual hangout! Things couldn't have gone any more wonderful :) The long lost Bok (aka SMRT guy) was there that night, and Yan (aka policeman) turned up later too! I haven't seen these two guys for a while :) And so we had a really good night skating around an empty town :D Most of the pictures in this post are all taken by Bok and edited by me. They teach me how to do tricks and I teach them how to use my camera :) ![]() Me: Why are you eating like you haven't ate in 10 years? As we headed back up after dinner, there were these two kids in the lift with us. K, being high as usual, asked to take a picture with them. ![]() K wanted to ask if they were in the some St. John uniform group but ended up slipping the words 'Long John', hahaha. Time was so slow that night. ![]() ![]() Yan (Mr. Policeman!) and Acip (The awesome dude who stopped me, hehe)! ![]() ![]() I haven't landed my Ollie yet, but I will as soon as my ankle doesn't hurt as much anymore. After that... I'll try more tricks :) Let's see where the year takes me and what God has in store for me. That is, if I'm still alive by then. I have about 8 more days to orientation and I hope I don't appear cold just 'cause I don't like to talk a lot.

My heart bleeds no more.
![]() Taken by: Raisah | Edits: all mine I don't actually have anything much to say since all I've been doing lately is photographing skaters and nothing else... Other than trying to skate. Valery has kindly lent me her deck since she isn't skating much. And it's not just a deck - it's the deck she got when she was in the states. But oh, my bones will break before I even crack her deck. Nothing much to worry about. Yesterday, I made a new friend while at dinner with Kelvin and Sunny and I think we're going to be really good friends. :D ![]() Here's a complimentary picture of Kelvin and Sunny B) Colourful guys. ![]() Her name is Raisah, and she's really funny and cutesy. Together, we can be really loud. And yup, that deck right there is Val's. The only trick I've attempted so far is the Ollie, and as simple as it looks, it's not easy to land (from what I've seen of the skaters). We've planned to skate together ('cause we're girls and not as good as the guys) since we live near each other, and try to learn some tricks before going to skate with the guys. Things seem to look really interesting from now on. ![]() In this picture, both guys have underwent a major detox session through Photoshop. Here's a fun fact for you readers: They're brothers.

Break the silence, wake the dead.
![]() Most of my waking hours in the past week have been spent out on the streets at night with these kids and their decks (and then editing the photos). They're all really funny and friendly people, and I'm really thankful for them allowing me to take pictures of them doing tricks. Also, my portfolio seems to be falling in place now, even more with these guys and shows/gigs I've been going to. It's more filled up and I can't wait for my friends to get back to me with their designs for my online portfolio. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'll let you know that the guys landed every trick you see in these pictures. :) Maybe it's just me, but I think I'm getting better with editing the colours and all in photos. Lightroom is seriously Photoshop on steroids. ;) I've also had my non-personal Facebook account set up about two days ago, over here so add my account up if you like. I seriously don't like the Flickr interface much 'cause it's so confusing and I'm not sure if upgrading my account now would be such a good idea... And Facebook seems to be a pretty good platform to get connected out there, somewhere. It's also pretty cool how people recognise me as photographer and that they're using my photos (of them) as their new display picture. It isn't anything much but I think it's amazing how I'm getting around. Oh, have I mentioned how much I wish I had green eyes? |
